Burlington Lions Club donates $8,000 to Flood Victims FundBurlington
Lions Club President Ken O’Breza was pleased to present the Club’s
$8,000. cheque to Burlington Community Foundation President and CEO
Colleen Mulholland to assist uninsured or underinsured residents whose
homes were damaged from the August 4 flood
waters. O’Breza said: “Our motto is simply: We Serve. Over the
years the Club has sent funds to assist global victims of Tsunamis,
earthquakes and floods. Club members are now pleased to be assisting
local residents in need.” He went on: ”We sincerely hope our
Provincial Government will quickly recognize the enormity of the local
devastation as a disaster area and come forward with at least matching
funds. We salute the Burlington Community Foundation folks for so
willingly extending themselves in effectively co-ordinating so many
related aspects of raising awareness, patiently answering questions,
communicating with various government levels and media and of course,
accountability for donations management. We encourage fellow residents
who haven’t already, please send a donation to BCF today!”

Community Foundation CEO Mulholland thanked the Lions Club for their
donation. “Burlington residents continue to demonstrate a genuine
caring for their fellow citizens in a time of great need. The BCF Flood
Disaster Relief committee is pleased to be assisting so many people
affected by this disaster.” Mayor Rick Goldring, fresh from the
municipal election, was on hand to thank the Lions Club, the Foundation
and all those who are working to help those in need.
